In this role, you will be responsible for managing the purchasing of series titles for leading global academic institutions and other educational establishments. Working in a dynamic purchasing environment, you will collaborate with publishers, distributors, and internal teams to maintain accurate series records and fulfill customer orders.
What You'll Do
- Establish and maintain print standing orders with publishers and distributors.
- Purchase series titles upon publication, particularly where standing orders are not possible.
- Research, set up, and maintain series records in our database.
- Manage the end-to-end process of buying series titles, including receiving and profiling books.
- Liaise with colleagues across various teams to ensure smooth processing of orders and updates.
- Chase open purchase orders and update systems as required.
Essential:
- Experience in a library, book selling or publishing environment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work in a logical, methodical manner.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Desirable:
- Familiarity of acquisition or purchasing.
- Knowledge of one or more European languages (German, French, Spanish, or Italian).
- Familiarity with bibliographic data and cataloguing.
